Responsible for delivering transformational strategic change and the successful delivery of NRC’s programmes in ten countries, including the world’s largest humanitarian crisis (Yemen). Leadership of a team of 2,000 and a budget of £140m. Invested in research, advocacy and personal representation for NRC to lead humanitarian advocacy in Yemen, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia.Represented NRC’s with international media, national governments and key international stakeholders, including the FCO 2018 Somalia ‘High Level Event’, the State Department, UN and EU member states.

Nairobi

Provided vision and leadership to Oxfam GB in East and Central Africa, on the strategy, governance and influence of its programmes in six key countries. Introduced new ways to differentiate Oxfam in its pursuit of greater impact, attracting new funding to increase regional budgets from £55 to £100m. Responsible for the care of 1,000 colleagues and for the confederation’s Humanitarian Response in all ten countries in the region, including the Horn of Africa drought response in 2016/17.Oversaw Oxfam GB’s change management process in support of the unification of 10 country programmes in the region and led the negotiations with the Government of Kenya to secure the relocation of Oxfam International’s global head office to Nairobi.Represented the organisation with all external stakeholders.

Overall responsibility for strategy and delivery of a diverse and high profile programme across large areas of Kenya as well as urban settings. Developed a new vision of Oxfam as an enabler and change maker that saw in lead in the new sectors, including informal workers’ rights, civil society engagement in extractive industries, markets based programming and devolution. Managed £27million p.a. of development and humanitarian funding. Represented Oxfam Kenya with partners, donors and government and to its own Regional board. Researched, planned and led a two man decent of 1,500 miles of the River Niger in a traditional wooden Pirogue. Paddled through five countries, covering Park’s entire route and more, to establish the feasibility of his unrecorded and presumed route, ending where Park is thought to have met his end in Bousa, Nigeria.
