I am a qualified chartered engineer who has worked in the power generation industry since 1995. I have experience of working with the technical challenges of power generation, asset management and risk management as well as having the opportunity to work at a site level. In all roles I have had the opportunity to develop relationships which have been positive both on a personal level as well as from a business perspective. I consider that I have added value in all of the roles I have undertaken and found the most rewarding tasks those where change has been a focus and enjoy the ability to influence strategy. Heading up E.ON Global Fleet Management Steam Strategy and Risk team I had direct responsibility for E.ON coal fired assets and the approach to risk management. I had delegated authority for management for plant investment in order to maintain plant performance, compliance and safety. I was further responsible for the development of Steam fleets approach to process safety working alongside our other generation technologies including CCGT, Hydro and Nuclear. Functionally I managed the investment decision board for plant improvements and projects and review and challenge of the investment planning for the steam fleet through our risk based approach to assessing our assets. I have actively been working on the initiation of a barrier based approach to hazard review in our steam plants utilizing work initiated in our CCGT fleet and this process is linked to our incident investigation and learning processes. I was also involved in supporting the development of outage management framework and determining optimum methods for a risk approach to outage scope definition. I was the chair of Panel of Inquiry for the incident investigation into a steam turbine failure at Ironbridge Power Station. I was also the project sponsor for the development of a plant data management framework for the Steam fleet to improve fleet reporting and optimization of operational performance.
