Seconded to the Next Generation Project team as part of the reorganisation of the Generation and Climate and Renewables businesses in E.ON. I worked along with colleagues from the various elements of the business supporting the development of a common asset management structure and operational business. From basic principles we formed a new structure based around the core elements of ISO55001. Follow on from the creation of the organisational structure, I supported the operational business through on-boarding workshops and one to one coaching to establish the principles of the new organisation. I was also responsible for representing the strategic IT business demands. As part of the restructure of E.ON I will take up a new role as Business excellence leader looking at applying lean management techniques to the new organisation supporting the business in its current and future transformation.

Heading up E.ON Global Fleet Management Steam Strategy and Risk team I had direct responsibility for E.ON coal fired assets and the approach to risk management. I had delegated authority for management for plant investment in order to maintain plant performance, compliance and safety. I was further responsible for the development of Steam fleets approach to process safety working alongside our other generation technologies including CCGT, Hydro and Nuclear. Functionally I managed the investment decision board for plant improvements and projects and review and challenge of the investment planning for the steam fleet through our risk based approach to assessing our assets. I have actively been working on the initiation of a barrier based approach to hazard review in our steam plants utilizing work initiated in our CCGT fleet and this process is linked to our incident investigation and learning processes. I was also involved in supporting the development of outage management framework and determining optimum methods for a risk approach to outage scope definition. I was the chair of Panel of Inquiry for the incident investigation into a steam turbine failure at Ironbridge Power Station. I was also the project sponsor for the development of a plant data management framework for the Steam fleet to improve fleet reporting and optimization of operational performance.

As the Engineering manager of a 400 MW Alstom GT26 gas turbine Power station I was responsible for the day to day maintenance. Focussing on availability, flexibility and reliability I worked with my team to develop best approach to contractor management and safety in the workplace. In addition I was responsible for a number of improvement projects and the associated budget spend as well as looking at the long term outage planning and parts purchase.

As the Asset Risk Team Manager reporting to the Governance and Risk Manager the functional fleet management centre for CCGT, I have manager on behalf of the Asset Risk and Governace Manager the capital (£50 million) and revenue (£7 million) improvement budgets for EON-UK. I have successfully delivered through my team of 11 people a robust and detailed risk management process (AERO) aligned to the business requirements in the UK and meeting the safety, regulatory and commercial aspects of operating a diverse generation portfolio. I have initiated implementation of AERO process across an international portfolio during 2010 and delivered pilot reviews across E.ONs international operations in all of the key technologies, including Hydro, Nuclear, and Thermal generation. I have played a key role in the definition and adoption of Process Safety in E.ON UK.

Responsible for pressure parts and boilers I was engaged in the AERO risk management process. I Identified opportunity to build relationship between Asset Management, E.ON Engineering and the Site teams. I chaired the boiler and mills best practice group and initiated the low temperature pipework strategy which is now central to an industry wide approach. I played a key role in the early stages of the Ratcliffe environmental upgrade project specifying and placing the contracts for design work and procurement of pressure part replacement.

Secondment from E.ON to work as part of the technical support team for tier 1 suppliers. I was asked to provide direct support to the four asset managers for British Energy including work to prioritise and review project proposals and funding requests.

Working as a welding metallurgist supporting major overhauls on 500MW coal fired units and CCGT units. Main responsibilities were associated with the integrity assessment of welds and completion of NDT inspections for the high temperature steam pipe work.

As a Senior Project lead at AEA technology I was responsible for leading integrity management projects in a number of different countries including, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan as well as a number of european countries. I was responsible for planning and managing outage teams and completing life integrity assessments to underwrite plant operation and maintain compliance with local regulatory requirements.

East Kilbride Glasgow

As a failure metallurgist I conducted metallurgical investigations for the Scottish Power portfolio. This included boiler tube failure investigations as well as wider investigations across the generating sites. In addition, I managed the inspection of the high temperature high pressure pipework providing planning and assessment services.
