Nigel managed the SMWSA tender for Hitachi Rail responsible for delivering the signalling, communications, power and rolling stock solutions as well as asset management platforms for the operations phase.

Nigel managed the supply contract for over $1.5bn worth of rolling stock comprising the New Intercity Fleet. The contract covered design, manufacture, test, commission and maintenance of 554 carriages delivered by a consortium of Hyundai Rotem, Mitsubishi and UGL.

Nigel managed all aspects of a diverse and cross-cultural Rolling Stock engineering team to submit 3 major rail tenders - New Intercity Fleet (NSW), High Capacity Metro Trains (VIC) and Sydney Growth Trains Project (NSW). He worked with the customer (TfNSW and PTV) to identify, discuss and manage specific project requirements in order to tailor the design solution to the State’s priorities.
