Under Nigel’s leadership, Wholesome grew to be the largest organic and fair trade sweetener company in the United States. As CEO Nigel oversaw a $180 Million Private Equity investment in Wholesome in 2012 and has now completed a management succession process with the current investors. He transitioned out of a full-time role with the company in May 2017.Wholesome! pioneered fairly traded sweetener sales in the United States including organic sugar, honey and agave nectar. Since 2005, Wholesome! Fair Trade projects have returned over $15 million to Fair Trade partners and impoverished farming communities across South America, Mexico and Africa. Over 90% of Wholesome! products are certified organic, and the company markets direct to consumers, quality retailers and major food and beverage manufacturers alike. Nigel passionately believes in social justice and that the ethos of organic food has a social dimension as well. His goal is high quality nutritious food produced with respect for both people and the environment.He is also an avid cyclist and runner and believes in traditionally produced, great tasting nutritious food as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise. Nigel chaired the Organic Trade Association Sugar Task Force and was a member of the FLO International Product Advisory Council for Fair Trade Sugar. In addition to Wholesome! is also a Board member of socially responsible products company Alter-Eco. In the summer of 2016 Nigel relocated from Sugar Land, Texas to Boulder, Colorado where he now lives with his wife Triny and their five children Cameron, Charley, Mateo, Tomas & Emilio.
