I spent the first half of my career as a consulting actuary, based in Australia and the UK undertaking assignments in those countries plus the USA and Brazil. I have been Managing Director of Actuarial and Computer Services companies in both Australia and the UK.The second half of my career -- during which time I have been self-employed -- has been concentrated on the IT & Technology fields. Achievements include writing and supporting a major financial application for the Securities Industry and developing other applications in a variety of business sectors.Throughout this time I concentrated on how to optimise the effective deployment of Open Source Software and the application of emerging technology to small businesses in Australia. With the emergence of mobile apps I had expanded my interest into this arena and developed an app -- MyHealth - Picture Your Health & Fitness -- to assist friends & family to manage recently diagnosed chronic (incurable) diseases. It was rewarding to note that these efforts helped in difficult situations.My current focus is spread over: * providing services and advice to Micro & Small businesses to help them adopt the tools of large successful businesses without the "Enterprise" costs * providing a "CTO on Demand" subscription service to provide the answers and assistance required by Startups & Scaleups who cannot justify the cost of a full-time CTO * devising & implementing online marketing programs for direct sales of products and services, particularly those sold on a subscription basis I am currently working with a biopharmaceutical product developer on the information technology requirements of product distribution & marketing and the art of managing a geographically distributed professional team.
