Nigel is a Chartered Engineer and has been providing mechanical engineering consulting services for 30 years with a strong focus on the planning, design and delivery of facilities in the science, research, education and health sectors.Through leading or contributing to major projects in Australia and the United Kingdom, he has worked with many international award winning architects.His 30 year career has provided him with a broad appreciation of all stages of a projects’ journey from initial functional briefing to user transition and operation including the critical components, considerations and roles that are key to achieving a successful outcome.A key part of his design approach is open and collaborative engagement with all stakeholders to understand the science, vision and key drivers that influence the function and form of a facility.Nigel recently authored a Think Paper entitled “the life science shift: a new era for buildings” which explores opportunities and considerations around converting existing building stock into facilities that can support life science. Nigel has a keen interest in the trends around flexible laboratory incubator and accelerator spaces for biotech start ups.
