What do I do? "I'm a kayaker", but it's not as simple as that. Sure, I paddle, and I instruct and coach kayaking around the globe. But my involvement also extends to designing kayaks and kayaking equipment, to writing books and articles, and consulting. At age 24, I was the first to circumnavigate Iceland, with my friend. The kayaks we used were the first I designed, and one of the earliest of many personal paddling adventures. That adventure became the topic for my first public presentations.I enjoy stimulating collaborations. I am always open to new project suggestions, especially when they lead away from my familiar tracks. My designs, licensed by several companies over the years, include 12 kayaks, kayak paddles, float vests, tow lines and paddling garments. I have published 12 books, contributed chapters to several more, and produced a 6-volume set of instructional sea kayaking videos. In the paddling industry, I have worked with, had product made by, or have been consultant to a number of fun companies.
