Micro-Utility Partners is a Singapore registered green infrastructure developer. We design, build, own, operate & then transfer property scale integrated clean energy, water & zero waste utility services. Through this decentralised approach, energy & water are created, harvested, distributed, consumed, reused & recycled onsite. Our circular model allows to us to cascade energy, water & nutrients over and over again, creating efficiencies not possible through the traditional linear service model.This partnership business allows clients to decouple from municipal infrastructure (where it exists) and be self sufficient in a relatively short period of time.Our initial focus is on Indonesia through 'PT Micro Utility Partners' but we are open to investigating other geographies and sectors.

Centripetal Group is an ecosystem services project developer. We develop local ecological infrastructure funded through the utility business model (longterm service level agreements) using Design-Build-Operate-Transfer (DBOT) delivery. Project CAPEX can often be funded through efficiency savings for energy, water and waste management. We call these micro-utilities.

Founder and Principal of Ecological Design & Project management practice Zingspace. Developed the business to a team of 19 (including myself) with turn over close to AUD $3M annually at its' peak. Clients include local, state and federal governments, mining companies EPC's, tier 1 builders, energy companies, Aboriginal corporations, property developers, EPC's, architects and engineers. We had a great run but in hindsight I didn't make the tough decisions early enough during the GFC, many clients went broke and the domino effect forced us to restructure the business in 2009 and back to a core team of 5. Since then we systemised the business and opened our first licensee office in Cairns North Queensland in 2010 focussed on the Tropical Carbon market. Although short lived the feedback loops were meaningful and we could role the business out again in any location as the market opportunity arises. In late 2010 I brought partners into the business and took on a business development role in SE Asia due in part to the contracting local economy and the opportunity presented by the Asian Century.

In early 2004, my partners and I bought a boutique restaurant and bar called The Embassy. We were focussed on bringing a little bit of Sydney or Melbourne to North Queensland. While we thought we had a great business initially, changes in the liquor licensing regime and the introduction of a flying squad made the fundamentals of the business uneconomic. We brought International Dj's, World Famous Jazz & Folk Muso's to Townsville, served amazing cocktails and had a lot of fun. Unfortunately the hangover and financial pain lasted a very longtime. I did learn a lot about buying businesses, self control and government red tape!
