CurrentMarriott Statistical Consulting was set up in 2006 to provide statistical consulting, training and data management to clients in many industries. Some examples of projects I have undertaken are:1. Designed and delivered statistical training courses for 35 doctors & nurses from a hospital in Dubai. I was asked to run this course with only a weeks notice after another provider pulled out. The feedback was extremely positive and I have been asked to run further courses.2. Built a forecasting model to enable a major retailer to forecast the likely the number of orders that will be placed on-line each week. Crucial to this model was the identification of 7 distinct segments of customer behaviour which the retailer had not been aware of before. Even better, I was able to show a customer's first order is predictive of if & when they will shop again which enables them to be placed in one of the 7 segments. The retailer is now able to use the model to test different marketing spend scenarios and identify which segment is most likely to respond to marketing activity.3. Advised a manufacturer of medical equipment on how to calculate the right sample size to be used when validating whether a new product is safe and fit for purpose. The FDA had raised concerns about the statistical basis for their current sample sizes but after two relatively short sessions with me, they undertook a major rethink of the way they sample their products and now have much more confidence in their ability to meet the statistical requirements & concerns of regulators.
