Principal Engineer
CurrentPrincipal Engineers are responsible for building systems and prototypes while role-modelling our engineering culture and principles. They also provide high-level technical direction and oversight along with mentoring and coaching for other engineering team members.Key Tasks- Be a technical expert at the highest level in at least one of our core systems, with a solid understanding of the others- Understand all the long term engineering and product road maps to ensure all team initiatives are aligned- Engage with other teams at an early stage in the problem/solution lifecycle to design solutions which are stable, maintainable, and deliverable- Spike prototypes and implement new features in collaboration with our product, infrastructure and platform teams- Is a point of escalation for teams that are facing complex technical challenges- Help provide technical direction working closely with Sharesies’ technical leadership and ensuring teams are working towards engineering OKR goals- Leadership around balancing delivering business needs and foundational work to ensure we can continue to deliver business needs in the future.- Help shape engineering culture at Sharesies- Articulate both business context and strategy as well as technical constraints and requirements to support teams to find an appropriate balanceIn this role my primary focus has been architecting the Sharesies KiwiSaver scheme: https://sharesies.nz/kiwisaver
