Niharika Shah is an art and heritage consultant based in Ahmadabad. She is the founder /director of the arts and heritage management company, InventArt. With her higher education in Heritage Management from prestigious Ahmadabad University and experience of working in the field of contemporary arts and craft, InventArt expanded its horizon by establishing GalleryRa for contemporary art and while conserving the traditional crafts.Before starting her independent firm Niharika Shah served as gallery director and curator at Kanoria Centre for Arts, Ahmedabad for more than a decade. With her background in psychology and postgraduate study of marketing management, she focused on the management of people and relation-building for the institute. She initiated changes in the Centre for better infrastructure and created an atmosphere for marketing the Centre to the artists as well as others. She Created an outreach program for artists to have a dialogue with the outer world by introducing “Support the artists” and “Meet the artist”. With the launch of a new art gallery in 2010, she was promoted to gallery director. Her experience of working with KCA artists and craft people was very useful for curatorial work as gallery director. Some of her collaborative participation like the National Education Summit and other institutional events gave KCA a chance to enhance its image. Another significant step was the initiating literature festival on the art campus. Zest to bring people close to mother tongue has given shape to Gujarat Literature Festival. A team of like-minded people led by her shaped this festival, and now it is a prestigious event adding to the holistic objective of Kanoria Centre.With InventArt, her objective is to take Indian contemporary art and traditional craft practice at the national and international level by curating shows and bringing new experimental aspects from young practitioners. Niharika believes in the potential of team building. It is very important to believe in your context and your team spirit. Her new journey is about to begin but she has faith in her persuasion.
