As a paid teaching assistant, I tutor 15 students per session in a group setting on Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus. I also grade tests and record data in spreadsheets to monitor student progress, guide students with test corrections, and meet with parents to provide performance updates. I am trusted by owners to provide leadership in opening and closing the center and maintaining the facility independently when the owners are not present.

I am part of the founding leadership team to launch this nonprofit organization that coordinated hackathons for underprivileged youth to increase participation in the field of computer science. As the co-president, I assisted in running three successful hackathons, recruited more than 100 students per workshop through virtual posters on social media platforms and advertisements in community e-alerts, onboarded 10 dynamic computer science guest speakers, and obtained corporate donations and sponsorship to foster efficient operations. I also form presentation parameters for pitch workshops, trained three next-generation leaders, and created a playbook for operational logistics to facilitate the planning of future hackfests.

As a research intern and activist, I researched the pros and cons of the current traffic laws set in place in Vijayawada, India. I wrote and recorded a podcast in which I raised awareness of the poor traffic situation in Vijayawada and proposed the solution of a point system. I reached out to local Indians in Vijayawada to get feedback on my proposal and even included clips of our conversation in my podcast to make it more reliable and personal to Vijayawada residents. My podcast received a terrific response and I earned one of five Our Future is Science Excellence Awards along with a $1K stipend for my research.

As a research intern, I conducted an 11-week independent hypothesis-driven research project in a professional laboratory setting. I specifically researched the impact varying doses of iron can have on the cognitive functionality and memory of fruit flies. Furthermore, I assessed the correlation between iron levels and the rate of increase in hemolymph flow to understand iron’s effect on cognition. I conducted my experiment using the larval memory assay and determined that iron levels boosted larvae’s memory by analyzing the data I collected through the use of graphs and data tables. I presented my findings to faculty, researchers, and TRIP mentors/alumni at the Final Symposium.
