I specialize in elevating the genius of people that I work with to accelerate system performance, win, and communicate the vision and the victories.I facilitate transformational experiences, develop leaders and create systems to do so, coach and cultivate high performing teams, shape change processes and craft strategy and communications for organizational and alliance campaigns.I have founded, turned around, and led multiple social justice organizations for over a decade. I am a former Executive Director of the Philadelphia Student Union and a co-founder of the Media Mobilizing Project and Put People First! PA.I have supported capacity building for local, regional, and national organizations and alliances at the forefront of reproductive, immigrant, racial, worker, education, communications and housing justice.

Put People First! PA is building power across 19 counties in PA across the traditional divides of urban/rural, red and blue.

After having been an Organizer and then Assistant Director for the Philadelphia Student Union between 1999-2003, I was approached by the board in 2005 to return as the Executive Director (ED). The organization had fallen on hard times and was on the verge of shutting down. At the request of my former students from Bartram High School, I agreed to take on the task of getting the organization restarted. I became the ED in August 2006, and rebuilt the organization, which at the time had almost no resources or staff, to a staff of 8. During my tenure as ED the organization rebuilt its presence and reputation locally, regionally, and nationally; established a rigorous culture of youth organizing coupled with leadership development; co-founded the national Alliance for Educational Justice; played a seminal role in the opening of the new West Philadelphia High School; built the Campaign for Nonviolent Schools; and was the subject of several research studies (see above), one of which showing evidence that participation in the Philadelphia Student Union improved students' academic outcomes.
