Patient Support
Current"Ensures clinicians and patients have all the information and help they need to provide care and be taken care of."In this role, I act as a bridge between patient and provider, as well as patients and other members of their existing care teams - from cardiologists to home health aids. I, along with my fellow admins, handle the "backend" of our digital platform: sending out lab orders, referrals, prior authorizations, and completing other crucial documents necessary for establishment/continuity of care.As I started while the company was still relatively small, I've been fortunate enough to watch our team grow. I have frequent, open discussions on existing processes and provide feedback on new ones we hope will allow us to laser-focus on our goals to provide safe, comprehensive care to our existing patients as well as those to come. We've partnered with a major insurance payor this year, and as a result, I have become well-accustomed to exploring and explaining insurance benefits, seeking out local in-network options (as well as low-cost options for our uninsured DTC patients), and constructing authorization request and appeals for new/continued drug therapy & specialist visits. I have been lucky enough to share as much as I've learned with my fellow admins, and have seen my team grow faster than I'd ever imagined possible. From the individual systems we use daily, to de-escalating patients in our inbox, the opportunity to teach a skill (or two!) has reinforced mine as well as given me the chance to give back.
