Working on the Core Database and Services team – designing and building fast, cost-efficient, self-healing and scalable architectures to serve Quora's ever-growing global traffic and storage needs.- Containerized Quora's core asynchronous task worker architecture and migrated it to kubernetes- Implemented low-level read/write analysis for keys in Graphite, the main time-series database used at Quora, and created metrics visualizations that engineers could use to debug hot keys- Designed and implemented a local apt repository, speeding up CI builds by up to 10x and increasing reliability.

I joined the Compute team for a three-month summer internship.• I designed and implemented two fleet-wide automated systems to: o Headlessly cycle EC2 instances in an ASG (Python, AWS Lambda) o Periodically update EC2 instances with the latest compatible AMI built in Stripe’s Jenkins pipeline (Python, Ruby, Kubecron, AWS Lambda)• I prepared a formal 22-page benchmark report investigating Consul’s KV and service discovery performance based on various parameters (Python, Matplotib)

UCLA DevX creates "moonshots" for UCLA – software projects to enhance the UCLA community. We recruit and put together 8 teams of 5-6 members (1 PM, varying number of frontend and backend developers) to work for 9 weekly sprints to complete a given project. As Vice President, I manage and direct the largest student organization dedicated to computer science in the Los Angeles area. Over the last year, we've more than doubled our membership, built a portal for tracking members and attendance, solidified internal processes, improved the quality and turnout of all our events, and introduced vital changes to the CS curriculum at UCLA.

Designed and built the entire frontend and backend of the new ACM Membership Portal (Node.js, Postgres, Redis, React, NGINX, Docker), with DB schemas for efficient lookup and update. Implemented optimizing strategies such as asset caching, asset minimization, and a custom cache layer in Redis to reduce server load times by up to 75%.The website currently supports about 1000 members with frequent and daily usage.

• Overhauled website, leading to a $25,000 donation (HTML, CSS, JS, PHP)• Automated monotonous tasks and data analysis, saving weeks of time (Python)• Applied image processing to count the number of cells and quantify variousfeatures in microscope images with over 90% accuracy (C++, OpenCV, Electron, HTML, CSS, AngularJS)

As a software engineering intern, I worked on Security Services Exchange (SSE), a core product of Cisco's security business. SSE is a cloud platform to manage security policies, threat analysis, and telemetry processing for all on-premise devices.• Drove the transition to containers with a custom service manager, resulting in a 30% higher resource utilization and faster development turnaround (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Node.js)• Created a generic event-based workflow engine for services (Node.js)• Re-implemented backend storage service using Redis and efficient data structuresto achieve 22x scalability and 60x faster queries (Golang, Redis)

Created a reliable and robust worker-based web scraper written in Node.js. Designed and implemented a Tomcat/Maven Java web server for a phishing-awareness promotional game that generated and displayed phishing emails and kept track of the user's results.Technologies applied: Node.js, Tomcat, Maven, Java, JPA, Javascript, AngularJS, PostgreSQL.
