About Nik Baumann

Nothing excites me more than contributing to an ambitious goal for business growth.Whether it’s driving organic growth globally, bringing a new product to market, expanding to a new region, or acquiring a high-potential startup, I’m passionate about accelerating growth.This has been a theme in my career spanning diverse industries and regions of the world, in both Finance and GM roles with multinational companies including Mazda, Merck, Aggreko, and now QIAGEN.Originally from Germany, I’m multilingual, internationally mobile and have led global teams comprised of many nationalities. My educational and career progression has brought me to Singapore, Japan, Mexico, Canada, and Spain, where I have led QIAstat-Dx, a global business within QIAGEN that offers a next-gen platform for syndromic diagnostics. I’m incredibly proud of the hard work our team at QIAstat-Dx has done to quickly add to, launch and ramp up production of our syndromic respiratory PCR test including SARS-CoV-2.     Promoted to lead a newly acquired operating company, QIAstat-Dx, which offers a next-gen platform for multiplex, syndromic PCR diagnostic testing, in addition to leading the Barcelona facility as Head of QIAGEN Barcelona (until 8/22 when relocating back to the worldwide Headquarter Hilden Site). This eventful time at QIAGEN has included: ♦ Significant growth for QIAstat-Dx, increasing from $~15M in revenue for 2019 to $~88M in 2022.♦ The European and US launch of test kits for the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, introducing the first true syndromic testing solution for use in the pandemic in the EU and US (Emergency Use Authorization).♦ Ramping up production of SARS-CoV-2 test kits at facilities in Spain, Germany, to support the global fight against the pandemic. This entailed an investment by QIAGEN of more than €110M triggered in mid-2020 for all product lines, including QIAstat-Dx.♦ The U.S. launch in 2019 of the QIAstat-Dx syndromic testing system after receiving 510(k) clearance from the FDA.
