• Supported US contribution to the GEO Blue Planet initiative, housed within the Satellite Oceanography and Climatology Division of the Center for Satellite Applications and Research at NOAA NESDIS.• Managed international projects and activities related to the use of Earth Observations for the monitoring and management of coastal and marine pollution, marine biodiversity, disaster risk, climate adaptation, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. • Collaborated with high level intergovernmental organizations (e.g., United Nations Environment Program, The World Bank), NOAA, NASA, NGOs, Mercator Ocean International France, private sector groups and local stakeholders on projects geared towards sharing ocean and coastal satellite data and information internationally. • Organized and hosted the GEO Blue Planet Symposium in Accra, Ghana, geared towards promoting the use of Ocean and Coastal Observation tools to address issues related to fisheries, ecosystem conservation and coastal hazards in Africa.

• Characterized the interannual spatiotemporal distribution patterns of the Chrysaora chesapeakei jellyfish species in the Patuxent River waterscape using adaptive resolution imaging sonar. • Conducted field sampling using in-situ remote sensing techniques and traditional methods to characterize estuarine water quality parameters and distribution patterns of gelatinous zooplankton, mesozooplankton, and phytoplankton in the Chesapeake Bay.• Performed data analysis, statistical modeling and data aggregation using R processing software to investigate ecological interactions, impact of environmental factors and future impact of climate change on species abundance and distribution.• Engaged in local stakeholder outreach and evaluating mitigation efforts to reduce the impact of jellyfish blooms on coastal resources and human activities in the Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay.

• Spearheaded proposal for the development of an integrated sonar-optical system which would allow tilapia farmers to combat key challenges associated with global tilapia aquaculture. • Proposed the development of multimodal system would give farmers the ability to detect disease onset, estimate species biomass and provide key insight into the growth of tilapia. • Engaged with high level executives, aquaculture managers and tilapia farmers from North America, South America and Southeast Asia to gain insight into challenges associated with commercial tilapia production. • Constructed and submitted NSF SBIR Phase I grant proposal to aid in the development of this technology.

• Investigated the most suitable methods of DNA extraction and analysis from marine invertebrates (eastern oyster, blue mussel, bay scallop and Atlantic bay nettle) along the US North East coast.• Examined the efficiency of these techniques at pinpointing genetic traits that favor adaptation to climate change and global warming. • Evaluated the effectiveness of DNA analysis techniques including CRISPR/Cas9 technology, SNP analysis, RFLP gel electrophoresis and PCR analysis.

• Conducted multiscale research geared towards investigating the environmental impact of anthropogenic activities on sustainable farming and aquaculture in Cayo, Stann Creek and Orange Walk districts, Belize. • Measured environmental parameters in each district by conducting air quality, water quality and soil quality testing. • Participated in multiple local workshops and seminars geared towards understanding traditional sustainable agricultural practices, local marine wildlife conservation and environmental protection.• Mentored students from US universities throughout the course of the internship program on the importance of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Paris Climate Agreement and Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
