3Rd Party Plug-In Developer For Acustica Audio'S Nebula 4 Platform (Freelance)

Current

London, United Kingdom

I develop libraries for Acustica Audio's Nebula 4 (N4) nonlinear Volterra series convolution plug-in platform. A lot of these libraries are already developed but yet to be released (estimated time of release around the mid-2018 when N4 will be supported by a 3rd party developers marketplace). Such libraries include natural reverberation based in impulse responses, equalisers, circuit distortions and others. For some examples of my recent work please see the images gallery below. One main difference between other IR based reverbs and what I offer is that the N4 engine is capable of dynamic representation of the captured spaces and gear used incl. the harmonic distortion of the circuits used in the sampling process (mics, mic preamps, etc.). This allows for some very creative approaches, such as using vintage valve mics as pick-up transducers or guitar amplifiers as an emitting source.

Internal Plug-In Developer & Company Representative For The Uk

Current

London, United Kingdom / Lodi, Italy

I do this job as a freelancer. At AA I work as an internal and 3rd party plug-in developer. I help the company to build pristine audio quality mixing and mastering plug-ins. We do this by utilising our proprietary non-linear Vectorial Volterra Kernels Technology convolution audio platform and skinning language 'Acqua'. I also officially represent the company in the UK. Some of my main duties at Acustica are:• Meticulous measurements of various gear components following strict QA standards• Critical listening, product assessment, audio quality control• Product design - signal flow philosophy, GUI concept and workflow• Marketing and PR (e.g. product demonstrations, liaison with magazines, reviews, forums, social media, etc.)

Mar 2014 - Present

Marketing Director

London, United Kingdom

I led a successful campaign improving Acustica's brand perception among audio professionals and the company presence within magazines, YouTube channels, forums, various social media, blogs, etc. Acustica’s products saw positive reviews in magazines such as: Sound on Sound, Resolution Magazine, Computer Music, Sonic Scoop and many others. Acustica’s Pink2 bundle was nominated in the best plug-in of 2018 category, both by Resolution Mag and Sound on Sound. I managed a fruitful collaboration with Computer Music, releasing a free mastering multiband compressor with their 2018 October issue. I wrote an introductory article to Acustica’s non-linear convolution technology for Resolution Magazine and presented at various events. I also worked closely with the team of product resellers, making sure that they can expand the company sales.Within this period I also established a collaboration with the Music Producers Guild UK and various universities around the country. I also managed to endorse plenty of famous Grammy winning producers and engineers and have them vouch for the quality of AA's products. You can read my article for Resolution Mag here:https://www.resolutionmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Acustica-Audio-software-Resolution-V17.5-SR-4.pdfThe reason for having to quit this job is that in order to secure a permanent internal role I had to relocate to Italy - something I couldn't commit to due to personal reasons. This is why we reached an agreement with Acustica's management that it will be best for me to pass over this role to a new person located in the company headquarters in Lodi.

Nov 2017 - Sep 2018

Visiting Lecturer

Current

London, United Kingdom

Currently doing the Electronics classes at ARI London. I also deliver a lecture to each cohort in which I look at various measurements of analogue gear and compare these to plug-ins. I look at measurements of circuit distortions, equalisers and compressors and go through various system behaviours that need to be recreated to have a believable digital emulation of classic analogue designs. This is an attempt to discuss some of the 'non-mythological' differences between plug-ins and HW analogue gear and the practical implications that such may have.

Lecturer In Audio And Music Production

I truly loved this job and I like to think that I performed it with a lot of care and positive energy. I was happy to provoke passion for knowledge and curiosity in my students, nourish their creative interests, and help them to choose a suitable direction for their future. This is confirmed by the numerous recommendations given to me by my ex-students (see the recommendations section below).Having access to SAE's state-of-the-art facilities gave me the opportunity to constantly expand my knowledge in the art and science of music and audio production. Other than teaching, I also spent a lot of time performing experiments and conducting variety of research projects. In those 6+ years I worked my way up from Associate to Senior Audio Supervisor (by taking progression exams in 3 stages), later to Associate Lecturer in Audio and Music Production, and from the beginning of 2014 to Lecturer in Audio and Music Production. I also supervised students who were in the process of writing their BA/BSc Major Projects. I left SAE as the Advanced Music Production Module Leader. As a lecturer I covered a wide range of topics such as: Sound Theory, Maths, Decibels, Electronics, Wiring, Sound Processing, Acoustics, Analogue and Digital Consoles (SSL G+, Neve VR, Neve Genesys, Custom 75, SSL AWS, SSL Duality, Yamaha O2R, etc.), Digital Audio Theory, Mixing, Microphones, Stereo Recording Techniques, Mastering, Analogue Tape, MIDI (theory and practice), Number Systems, Synthesis, Sampling, Digital Media, Restoration, Advanced Recording and Mixing Techniques, Mixing of Classical Music, Location Recording, Research, Career Development and others.

Full Member Of The British Executive Committee, Chairman In 2015

United Kingdom

Voluntary unpaid position. As newly elected member of the ex-com I pushed ahead our social media channels and helped to fuel our UK YouTube channel. I also quickly established myself as the Student Activities Coordinator of the section (with 200+ student members in the UK alone). As a Vice-Chair I was the main force behind the creation of the now annual and highly successful free student event 'Up your Output!'. I chaired 'UP!' in 2013 & 2014 and I was heavily involved in the 2015 edition. In this period 'UP!' grew from a 1 to a 4 day event. It has one clear mission - to help students on their way to becoming successful working audio professionals. Its core consists of lectures, workshops, career advice and a social/networking student party. In its later editions it added technical visits to some notable audio related locations (e.g. SSL's, Calrec's and Dolby Europe's HQs).(http://www.aes-uk.org/up2013/, http://www.aes-uk.org/up2014/, http://www.aes-uk.org/up2015/, http://upyouroutput.com/2016/, http://upyouroutput.com/)As a Chairman in 2015:• I was a successful leader of a committee of 9 of the top audio professionals in the UK (incl. mostly CEOs/CTOs/high level managers of audio companies from the UK and some of the head academics in the country)• I was praised for my ability to oragnise and distribute a workload among a team of extremely busy professionals, follow a monthly agenda, minute meeting and delegate action points• I managed to help bring forward the idea of what now is the annual UK 'Sustaining Members Event', which gathered CEOs and CTOs of the top UK audio companies and current PhD students and their academic supervisors to showcase their latest cutting edge research. The first event was held at SSL's HQs in March 2016.• I managed to successfully increase the student membership within the UKDuring this period I helped to organise and attended more than 60 high profile lectures and and tech visits.http://www.aes-uk.org/meetings/

Nik Art /Grafik 93

I first started at the role of Head of Graphic Desing at my father's printing house/agency. Freelance Sound Engineer, Music Composer

Nik Art Son

Sofia, Bulgaira

I started my professional audio career both as a studio engineer and in live sound. After being recruited by my ex-electric guitar tutor, it all began with me working for various promoters on large scale gigs such as: MTV Exit; Earth, Wind & Fire; Simply Red; Al Di Meola; Eric Truffaz Quartet; Methodman; various Jazz, Rock and Reggae festivals. My progression path moved on from the entry position of 'stage hands', through 'guitar tech', to stage manager's assistant. Starting in 2000 this continued until September 2007 when I moved to London to complete my training in Audio and Music Production at SAE London. Those jobs were a good opportunity not only to learn about the particularities of live sound and stage work, but also to get acquainted to essential health and safety practices and procedures. In this period I also played the electric guitar, composed pop songs for the Bulgarian National Radio, and gradually got into the business of studio recording and mixing as a freelance engineer. At the time I became friends with the now accomplished classical guitarist Stanislav Hvartchilkov (winner of the 2002 Andres Segovia International Classical Guitar Competition and the 2004 RAM Julian Bream Prize), which resulted in the release of our progressive rock album 'Future Hill' in 2001, for which I am credited as a composer, arranger, recording, mixing and mastering engineer. While working on some videos of our performances, this was also a chance to learn the basics of the video editing software Adobe Premiere.
