Plant-based vaccine development project: 1. The challenge was to ensure healthy plant growth to enable genetic modification experiments.2. Prepared agar-based regeneration media. These media selectively promoted the healthy growth of plants, the development of shoots, and the development of roots. Sterilized seeds, infused viral DNA into the leaves using a leaf infiltration protocol, and analyzed growth in the tissue culture chamber. All the equipment and materials used were sterilized an using autoclave machine. 3. Over 80% of the samples prepared were contamination free. Infant Ear infection research project: 1. The objective was to support an ongoing project that aims to determine whether eardrops reach the inner ear after the ear tube/tympanostomy tube insertion procedure. 2. Reviewed literature to identify synthetic material that closely represents the eardrum membrane. Designed an experiment to carry out surface tension studies to observe the capillary action of water and eardrops under different operational environments. Used commercial tympanostomy tubes (microtubes) and collected observational data. 3. It is expected that the data from this project will help to better understand the hypothesis.
  • Mva Diagnostics, Inc.
    Laboratory Technician
Mva Diagnostics, Inc. May 2021 - Aug 2021
    1. The challenge was to test insulating materials in electrical transformers. 2. Carried out ASTM tests to analyze oil samples from electrical transformers. Tested for power factor, dielectric strength, general oil quality (interfacial tension, color, density, temperature, acidity), and moisture content. 3. Prepared oil samples for high-pressure liquid chromatography and gas chromatography machines. 4. On average, carried out tests on about 70 samples a day.
