The school caters to almost 700 students from pre-primary to 7th standard of the Yerwada community. During the fellowship, I got the opportunity to experiment with several projects in school and work towards the holistic development of the students.The Community CenterWhile schools have been closed since March 2020, we needed a place to ensure the learning and growth of our students. With the collaboration of community members, we started a community center, a learning place for around 300 students of our school. The center also served as a place for regular parental engagement and extracurricular activities for the children.Fellow BuddyThe employees better know the how-about of any organisation. I collaborated with Teach For India's recruitment team and assisted them in mobilising and onboarding 10 fellows in the 2021 cohort. The assistance ranged from understanding the work culture, city context, documentation support and other miscellaneous queries of the fellows.Bridge-Volunteer MentorThe school closure created a huge learning gap in the students. To bridge this learning loss, I mentored 5 volunteers for 3 months and supported them with pedagogy, content and student management. The bridge volunteers helped us strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy via remediation, which accelerated student engagement.SHOUTT - Logistics LeadSHOUTT is a city-wide inter-school festival for students to celebrate self-expression. I supervised the logistics of this city-wide event with another lead and 3 more members. We created a website and a very smooth/straightforward registration process that helped us impact around 1200 students in the city.
