Senior Data Engineer
* Lead the migration from our legacy data warehouse with over 80 billion rows and multiple services to a managed distributed database. Architecting the system to be performant and cost effective as we scale both data-points and load. Redesigned large batch jobs to simpler incremental computation utilizing event sourcing patterns, treating data as an immutable sequence of events.* Built a platform for transferring real time data from MySQL to multiple destinations using append only binary log files. The platform ensured exactly-once delivery, transactional support, historical replay and fault tolerance. The platform allowed decoupling of data ingestion from downstream clients, enabling each client to consume data independently.* Increased deployment cadence by setting processes and guidelines for unbundling releases to a single issue with a direct responsible individual, while continuing support for shared environments for integration & load tests, feature bake in and hot fixes.* Implemented a multi billion row recent data cache using PostgreSQL with a moving window design of daily partitioned tables. Dropping partitions allowed for efficient removal of historical data without expensive deletes, and triggers abstracted away the implementation details allowing clients to read and write to a single table.
Data Scientist & Data Engineer
* Research and develop new analytic technologies for the next generation of solar monitoring and fleet management products. Worked closely with both engineering and analytic teams, to take an idea from prototype to production release* Implemented an alerting engine to generate custom events related to solar assets using time series generation data (Ex: System Disconnect, Zero Generation). The system was designed with a strong focus on testing, and an ability to simulate any condition necessary to recreate an existing event.* Expanded geographic coverage of Virtual Irradiance product - a machine learning based image processing pipeline for transforming satellite imagery into irradiance predictions.
Technical Manager
Coordinated the implementation of three Facebook applications for ARPA-e, Department of Energy project.http://changelabs.stanford.edu/
Research Assistant
Programmer
Developed a software tool using graphical models and machine learning algorithms to unearth patterns and predictive signals in a dataset of measurements from cancer patients.
Data Scientist - Intern
* Designed and implemented a data product 'Photovoltaic Performance Disaggregation' (Waterfall Chart), to drive insight into the performance of solar assets at system and fleet level. * Developed patented algorithms to determine shading, degradation and downtime loss.* Demoed the product at Solar Power International ’12 and received exceptional reviews.http://www.locusenergy.com/solutions/analytics
Web And Media Assistant
Created and managed websites for Stanford Technology Venture Program and Stanford Entrepreneurship Network.http://stvp.stanford.edu/
Project Intern
Worked on supply/demand matching and forecasting of the Laser Jet Printer line. Developed an analytical model to understand and predict global demand patterns.(Part of MS&E 262 course - Supply Chain Management)
Project Assistant
1. Disaster reporting system utilising the Ushahidi engine.Developed a disaster reporting system by adapting the ‘Ushahidi’ open source platform based on crowd sourcing. The system allows users to report incidents via SMS, Twitter or e-mail and the information would be logged onto Google maps for other users to view.Duration: August 2010 to September 20102. Non-collaborative and Non-invasive face detection and recognition as a part of Pilot Biometrics project of Aerospace Network Research Consortium (ANRC) for Boeing.Multiple cameras are used to capture various angles of an individual and the surroundings. Face detection and recognition algorithms are employed to uniquely authorise the pilot in the cockpit. The project involved implementing Digital Image processing algorithms.Duration: August 2010 to February 20113.Traffic Analytics using OpenCV.A real time integrated traffic monitoring and analysis system which consists of cameras and microphones installed at traffic islands. Live streams are transmitted to a central location and broadcast on social networking sites for users to access. Simultaneously video analytics are performed on the live stream in order to determine and estimate information like traffic density, detect exceptions and camera tampering.Duration: September 2010 to December 20104. Android Application Development as a part of Common Sense Net 2.0 project in collaboration with EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), Switzerland.Developed an Android application as an interface for farmers to access information related to weather forecasts, news, rainfall, market prices etc and to measure usage statistics of the mobile application for the client. The application is developed to be completely user friendly incorporating audio and visual elements, so that the application can be used by illiterate individuals as well.Duration: January 2011 to July 2011
