I serve as the divisional academic advisor for the Advanced Technologies & Public Service Careers division. I provide support and resources to students to reach their goals to complete certificates, degrees or transfer programs. I facilitate high school articulation credit, transfer equivalencies, course substitutions and graduation auditing with 1,000+ students. My focus is on student success, retention and completion. I use motivational interviewing and appreciative inquiry skills to help students identify their goals and seek resources.I collaborate with faculty to serve students, map curriculum and design articulation agreements.

I coordinate the EXCEL (EXplore, Careers, Education & Leadership) Living Learning Community in Lake Hall. EXCEL is the Living Learning Community at Kent State for Exploratory students. I also serve as the academic advisor for students in the community, I supervise one full time academic advisor, multiple graduate assistants and student staff who serve as Peer Mentors in the LLC.

-Manage a caseload of about 250 students-Teach US 10097: First Year Experience-Work collaboratively on student retention initiatives-Work collaboratively on strategic initiatives targeting high achieving student population

I was a graduate assistant in the Exploratory Advising office. I manage a case load of over 80 students, teach US 10097: First Year Experience, and work collaboratively with colleagues on projects and initiatives.

-Developed ESL curriculum -Trained Korean staff members-Developing lesson plans including conversation, pronunciation & grammar-Taught students ages 6-16

-Taught the laboratory portion of 2 sections of Elementary Spanish I
