Running a Hydroponic and Aeroponics workshop for the developing district of Lobitos, Peru. During the session, I explained how a cheap and simple aeroponics setup can be made using local materials to grow nutritious and valuable vegetables using very little water in the desert-like environment of North Peru. Using research conducted for my thesis, I built a prototype at Nottingham Trent University (in white) which I brought to Lobitos to test in the local environment. This was followed by a second prototype built during my two week stay in the district using local fisherman's tubs, plastic water bottles and old wooden crate panels.Further work: Collaboration with a local teacher to introduce aeroponics into schools in Lobitos with the hope for children to build their own simple growing kits and learn about the importance of agriculture, technology and engineering.
