Nikki (Nikila) Cole has established an international reputation as a writer, producer, and director. She moves easily between the unscripted and scripted industries. Most recently: directed 2 episodes of the acclaimed Y/A (scripted – 3 cam) series THE NEXT STEP (BBC Kids), was shortlisted for the TIFF-CBC Screenwriters Award, and was selected as a "Producer to Watch" at MIPTV in Cannes. Nikki is currently developing two drama series, two features, and a documentary. One of the features, The Bride’s Wedding, recently won Best Screenwriting at the Jogja International Film Festival in Indonesia, and her pilot script for the series Serpent Queen about Catherine de Medici won Best TV Pilot Screenplay in the Oaxaca, Mexico International Film Festival.Formerly a choreographer and theater director in London and Canada, she created the PBS and Vision TV documentary WANDERINGS: A JOURNEY TO CONNECT, exploring strange and unusual Jewish communities from Korea to Iceland to India. Her other documentaries and dance films include PAUL’S PIECE OF SKY (PBS) about a struggling African American Dance Company and INTIMACIES about Michael Kearns, Hollywood’s first openly HIV+ actor. Her dramatic short, MY FATHER, JOE about a 10 yr. old immigrant after World War II was adapted from a story by Jack Engelhard (INDECENT PROPOSAL).
