Nikki (Nikila) Cole has established an international reputation as a writer, producer, and director. She moves easily between the unscripted and scripted industries. Most recently: directed 2 episodes of the acclaimed Y/A (scripted – 3 cam) series THE NEXT STEP (BBC Kids), was shortlisted for the TIFF-CBC Screenwriters Award, and was selected as a "Producer to Watch" at MIPTV in Cannes. Nikki is currently developing two drama series, two features, and a documentary. One of the features, The Bride’s Wedding, recently won Best Screenwriting at the Jogja International Film Festival in Indonesia, and her pilot script for the series Serpent Queen about Catherine de Medici won Best TV Pilot Screenplay in the Oaxaca, Mexico International Film Festival.Formerly a choreographer and theater director in London and Canada, she created the PBS and Vision TV documentary WANDERINGS: A JOURNEY TO CONNECT, exploring strange and unusual Jewish communities from Korea to Iceland to India. Her other documentaries and dance films include PAUL’S PIECE OF SKY (PBS) about a struggling African American Dance Company and INTIMACIES about Michael Kearns, Hollywood’s first openly HIV+ actor. (Bravo), won the Audience Vote: Best Documentary, at the Palm Springs Int’l Film Fest).She produced and directed installations for Vancouver’s Pacific Space Centre, the King Abdulaziz Historical Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and was the production manager for Motion Simulator Ride films including MARS and SEATREK for SimEx Inc.She was a writer/producer/director of over 15 factual series including YOU, ME & THE KIDS, FOUR WEDDINGS, STORAGE WARS CANADA, and ICE ROAD TRUCKERSShe directed the documentary series TESSA and SCOTT about Canada’s Olympic ice dancing champions for the W Network, as well the CSA nominated medical series KEEPING CANADA ALIVE, and CANADA’S SMARTEST PERSON for the CBC. Her dramatic short, MY FATHER, JOE about a 10 yr. old immigrant after World War II was adapted from a story by Jack Engelhard (INDECENT PROPOSAL).
