Conducted research to inform my approach and adapted the current strategy to be more inclusive and dynamic. Creation of best practices in community engagement.Launch of a social media initiative including creation and maintenance of the website, blog, and instagram accounts that reflect work of the Resource Assistants in Region 6. Creation of social media content to feature diverse peoples and history of public lands. My social media skills were shared by the Washington Office in a USDA intern “takeover.” Development of podcasts featuring unique and underrepresented aspects of the Willamette National Forests’ history. Development of relationships and building of rapport with both Forest Service employees and community partners for more robust and lasting relationships. Provided programmatic suggestions on culturally relevant, sensitive, and adaptable programming. Worked across departments and areas to provide consultation on issues of accessibility, inclusion, representation, and equity in various programs of work such as the development of the Willamette’s Friends Group, response to recreation fees, response to non-recreational camping, and appointments to the Resource Advisory Council. Work with District Ranger, Pacific Northwest Research Station Social Scientist and Public Affairs Specialist in establishing a plan of action/research plan to address issues of homelessness on forest.Supervise and assisted in the hiring and management of the Willamette’s Youth and Community Engagement Coordinator. Collaborate across all districts, program areas, the Forest Leadership Team, other National Forests and with the Regional Office (R6).
