Director of Programming and Family Services for Breakthrough Recovery Group.Founder of Breakthrough Beginnings, a pioneering program offering truly comprehensive and integrated support services for opiate dependent pregnant women. As a Master's level counselor, licensed Chemical Dependency Professional, DONA trained Doula, lactation support and early childhood educator, I was in a unique position to design a truly innovative program, based on my experience and patient need. This program provides outpatient substance abuse counseling services using medication assisted treatment model; pregnancy support; child birth preparation; birthing support; postpartum support; and early childhood guidance.

Responsible for diverse and varied aspects of agency’s medication assisted treatment program for opiate dependency including providing individual and group counseling including creating and documenting treatment plans, and charted recovery process and treatment issues; case management for pregnant opiate dependent woman and all aspects of family/loved one’s education and support groups;. Maintain client and case records in accordance with WAC and Federal Confidentiality Laws standardsDeveloped and implemented curriculum for groups and family/loved one’s program; researched and developed WAC compliant education components for pregnant woman including Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), caring for newborns with NAS, parenting support and relevant community resources. Created materials for agency marketing and physician recruitment; developed training materials to educate staff members, clients, families and community members on buprenorphine treatment.

Experience at all grade levels, including seven years at middle school level. Final three years experience was elementary level with experience at three different elementary school sites. Most recent placement was at elementary school that served approximately 510 kindergarten through 6th grade student with 88% of families receiving free/reduced lunch. General school counselor responsibilities include providing counseling and guidance activities and services for students, staff and families within the school community. The counseling and guidance services and activities include individual counseling, crisis counseling, consultation, classroom meetings, student intervention and support groups and teacher resource support. Other responsibilities include assessment and referral to specialized programs and outside agencies; serving as school liaison with community agencies and groups; collaboration with school leadership planning and working with families in a variety of setting and situations. In the first year at Title 1 site, implemented a successful, researched based intervention for families of Kindergarten and 1st grade students below grade level.
