About Nikki Riddy

Nikki Riddy is a photographer and filmmaker armed with a degree in Chemistry and a minor in Applied Ethics. Leveraging her unique set of experiences, she believes in the power of digital media to educate, empower, and inspire audiences to foster positive change. Storytelling creates the opportunity to develop emotional connections in ways that wouldn't have been possible otherwise, serving as a catalyst for meaningful engagement and a deeper understanding of important issues. Her commitment to conservation storytelling led her to work as a video editor for nonprofits including OnlyOne and SeaLegacy. Nikki's contributions has earned her recognition, including two Telly awards in the “Editing” online craft category. The short film she co-produced with Paul Nicklen "Neon Night:Diving into the World of Biofluorescence'' received acclaim as a nominee finalist in the Jackson Wild film festival category of Natural Science. Her footage has also been featured on CBS News, highlighting the Rights of Nature in Panama, with more to be released on an upcoming PBS episode of Wild Hope. Nikki is also a contributing photographer with the Conservation Photographer Collective of Canada. Notably, she was the first to photograph Bryde’s whales in the Pearl Islands Archipelago, Panama. Most recently, Nikki has taken on the role of Director of Impact Media at The Leatherback Project, to support conservation efforts by creating impactful visuals that educate and advocate for the urgent need to protect the planet's biodiversity. A key element of this initiative involves harnessing the power of social media to mobilize communities and actively involve them in the critical work of rebuilding a harmonious relationship with Nature. By leveraging the expansive reach of social media platforms, the initiative seeks to cultivate a community-driven movement that encourages collective action and instills a sense of shared responsibility for environmental conservation. Nikki’s journey is marked by a deep desire for continuous learning and a commitment to pushing boundaries for collective change. Recognizing the interconnectedness of social and environmental issues, Nikki actively promotes a perspective that considers the intersection of various identities and experiences. She believes that addressing environmental challenges requires an inclusive approach that considers the unique experiences of different communities. Addressing environmental issues within a broader context of social justice and equality.
