    I was a volunteer living in a small village located in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. I taught at an all-girls school of 550 students teaching Biology as well as tutoring in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. I was a member of an organization entitled Shika na Mikono, which aims at spreading the knowledge of hands-on science learning throughout Tanzania.I have experience training volunteers and their Tanzanian counterparts about Project Design and Management as well as training Tanzanian and American teachers in Student Friendly Schools which addresses Gender-based Violence in schools and the role of the educator in bystander intervention regarding GBV. The training also addresses corporal punishment and possible alternatives that may be effective in Tanzanian schools.

I also have my Water Safety Instructor certification which allowed me to teach swimming lessons and my Lifeguard Instructor certification, allowing me to teach lifeguarding courses and re-certify staff members. As a Head Guard, I was also given the opportunity to learn the pump room systems and perform chemical checks as well as backwash the facility. I helped fix scheduling glitches and was a resource for other guards to ask questions in the break room or around deck. I was also trained in the management position and filled in when there were scheduling gaps. While working in this position, the focus was patron safety as well as handling patron complaints and concerns.

As a student supervisor, I was the link between our team of 60 employees and the Aquatics Director to answer questions about the facility, scheduling, upcoming events, and other various questions. I also was in charge of planning and running in-service trainings bi-weekly to ensure the skills of our staff.
