I managed a team of staff across the North East, Bradford and London. Our team’s work was to develop tailored out-reach support programmes for young people in our services based on their individual needs and to recruit and train volunteers and staff with specialised skills to fit these needs. Centrepoint Youth Homeless Charity has a vision to end youth homelessness. As a Mentoring Coordinator we help to empower young people to focus on a positive future. We match young people with volunteer mentors to help open opportunities and build confidence. By being a consistent and motivating role model our mentors are able to support young people into to education, training and moving on into independent accommodation.- Support with the recruitment of mentors, working collaboratively with service delivery staff and colleagues to identify potential volunteers.- Support in the preparation, development and delivery of the Centrepoint programme of training mentors.- Advertise and recruit Centrepoint young people to the mentoring scheme through working with direct services staff and running information sessions for young people.- Review mentoring regularly with the young people to track their progress, meet their pastoral needs and evaluate the mentoring relationship.- Work with our Policy and Participation team to influence government policies affecting vulnerable young people.- Provide information, guidance and one to one support to mentors and facilitate regular group supervision and forums for volunteers.- Adhere to Centrepoint’s safeguarding young people policies. Identifying and reporting risk efficiently and promptly to ensure that all mentors and young people are safeguarded at all times.- Deliver a best practice mentoring scheme model which continues to meet the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation’s Approved Provider Standard. - Work with Centrepoint’s New Business Development and Funding departments to ensure that volunteering activity is in line with funders’ and commissioners’ current priorities; in order to securing funding to develop the mentoring programme within Centrepoint.

My work as a Learning Support Assistant at Muswell Hill Primary School was on a 1:1 basis so the child would receive the right support for his/her needs. Each child needed their own support plan which I coordinated with the schools SENCO. I ensured all necessary tasks and activities were completed by having regular meetings with their other support workers and the child’s parents and by keeping reports and behavioural log books. In the meetings we would discuss how the child was doing; which activities were felt to be successful, and which ones weren’t, and where to go from there. I worked on developing their skills academically and also socially by running social inclusion projects.I also attended extra curricular activities such as school trips and holidays.

Working in teams of 2 - 6 people we would attend events, travel to different areas and hand out Redbull products for members of the public to sample and receive feedback. We were responsible for a Redbull car, managed the stock and reported findings to our managers.
