I deliver targeted, sustained, dedicated academic mentoring, and coaching to a small number of graduate students with a variety of disability-related learning needs. I support graduate students with assignment planning, workload management strategies, organizational and time management skills. I connect with my supervisor and colleagues in weekly meetings to share wellness-based resources and professional development opportunities, as well as to engage in case consultation as needed.

A transitional housing program in which I worked alongside women and non-binary folks experiencing homelessness, with the ultimate goal of obtaining safe, stable, permanent housing. With folk facing many barriers and often complex mental health, I provided counselling support and crisis management on a daily basis. I engaged in goal planning, safety and wellness planning with clients through intensive case management. I document client interactions with consistency and clarity and maintain a high level of confidentiality in working with sensitive information. I provided practical support to clients by supplying referrals, food donations and programming. In response to the rising opiate crises, I collaborated with a community agency to provide harm reduction training for staff and residents.

Selected as a "Storytelling Champion" I assisted in rolling out the company's new customer service model. I engaged authentically with store guests to provide a joyful and meaningful experience. I attended publisher events to learn more about the culture of books and booklovers. Frequently exceptional at meeting sales goals, and often responsible for store opening and closing procedures on cash and the sales floor.

I provided pactical and emotional support for single women experiencing homelessness in Hamilton. I worked as part of an outreach team, using a Housing First approach, to help women obtain and maintain safe, permanent housing. I facilitated weekly wellness groups and art projects with a focus on food preparation. I advised in program development for peer support within the “Supporting Our Sisters” (SOS) program.

Students describe my teaching style as passionate, engaging, and thought-provoking. I led four tutorials of over 25 undergraduate students each for Women’s Studies and Peace Studies courses. I prepared lesson plans, discussion questions and tutorial assignments. I facilitated open and critical discussions of key course concepts and ideas. I provided additional writing support, email consultation and office hours to aid student success. I evaluated reflexive writing, research papers, essays, presentations, tutorial participation and final exams.

I advocate for respect, justice, and dignity for survivors of sexualized violence. As part of a collective, I organized and moderated public, inclusive, non-violent annual demonstrations with over 500 attendees each. Over four years I recruited and supervised 60 volunteers, raised funds to cover operational costs, and collaborated with various community agencies. Up until 2015, I promoted at community events and media platforms. I use the collective's social media presence to promote events of allies in solidarity and to amplify an intersectional understanding of gender based violence.

As cashier I handled cash, debit and credit transactions, and recorded detailed cashier notes. I processed multiple walk-ins and take-out orders (both telephone and web-based). I frequently communicated with third-party companies and drivers to arrange for food deliveries. While serving customers food I promoted store specials whenever possible. I also prepared and cooked food to assist kitchen staff during peak times.

At the Campus Store I learned about retail and the bookselling industry while helping customers meet their needs. I collaborated with a team to organize the layout, stocking, storage and return of textbooks and courseware. Recognized for my high performance, I was selected to execute specific store projects such as locker rentals and convocation. I used knowledge of the VR POS system to answer inquiries on stock and order status. I handled cash, debit, credit, and student card transactions, as well as departmental and research charges.

I regularly trained new employees and acted as temporary shift supervisor. I represented workers on the Joint Health, Safety and Advisory Committee for over four years. I worked cohesivly with a team to serve food and beverages with accuracy and enthusiasm. I consistently received positive feedback about my customer service skills from guests, coworkers and management.

Through this practicum, I worked with elementary school students one day per week. I assisted students with classroom projects and homework, motivated students toward achieving their goals and provided supportive mentorship. I prioritized confidentiality in resulting case notes and utilized a strengths-based approach in my observations and analyses of student social development.

I recorded detailed notes for the undergraduate courses Introduction to Psychology, Statistics I and II and forwarded them to students in a timely manner. I made time to address student's questions, comments and concerns about lecture notes.

I provided supportive listening and referrals to callers on the 24 hour sexual assault support line. I assisted with community education, awareness and guest speaker events. I raised funds for the YWCA Toronto's “Adopt a Family” program.
