I completed the PASA internship at Shuters July 2011. During this time the educational publishing industry was incredibly busy developing new material as part of the CAPS curriculum implementation. From July 2011 to January 2012 I was employed at Shuters as a Publishing Assistant assisting wherever I could during the CAPS submission. I am currently a publisher and have successfully published a number of titles. My roles and responsibilities:- Project manage the entire publishing and production process including editing, page layout, illustration and proofreading.- Source and commission freelance service providers.- Manage and adhere to a publishing budget.- Manage, set and work within strict deadlines.- Edit and proofread. - Manage a number of titles at any one time.

The internship through PASA is a great opportunity to gain hands on experience in all sectors of the publishing industry. I received practical workplace experience not only within the publishing department at Shuter & Shooter Publishers but I was also introduced to the workings of the Shuters Publishing Studio, the marketing department, the customer services department, the warehouse and the printers.I was fortunate enough to be placed at Shuters during the new CAPS curriculum submission. This provided me with first-hand and invaluable experience producing new educational material for a Department of Education submission.
