Lord Waring, my great grandfather, was an exceptional entrepreneur during the Edwardian period in the UK. This man grew the Waring and Gillow global empire, which included internationally renowned designers, and represented a major C change in interior design. He partnered with the American White, forming the Waring White Building Company, which was responsible for building a significant part of London, including The Ritz, Selfridges, plus numerous hotels and theatres and public buildings around the world. His 3 airplane companies and conversion of his furniture factories to manufacturing war items, such as tents and gas masks, made a significant impact on the Allies winning the First World War. His social activities were legendary, his J-Class yacht, White Heather II raced against the King, Lipton and Singer, while at home he hosted the first Scout jamborees and was the initiator of shorts. Too long in the shadows, I am assembling a team of people to tell his story so that he can assume his rightful place in history.I will be reaching out to historians, archivists, writers, publishers, and production teams to make this happen. It is my passion and my mission.

Matthew Beckett of Lost Heritage, is our expert on this exception historic house.Working closely with the Bexley Archaelogical Group, it is hoped that some excavation can be done where the house once stood.The residence of Sam Waring, of Waring & Gillow for many years, it would be right & fitting that a trade school be built closeby where apprentices could learn traditional skills, such as carpentry, The Hamish Ogston Foundation is a leader & an inspiration for others.
