Nikkiesha Nicole McLeod i​s a queer, non-binary Trinidadian singer-songwriter, percussionist and writer. They began playing the steel pan at the age of twelve, when they convinced their parents to let them join the neighborhood steel­band orchestra, Panasonic Connection. Their debut EP, Quarrel, was released in 2018. They’ve played the drum kit for many bands in New York City, the most notable are Telenovela Star and Kenyon Phillips & The Ladies In Waiting. Nikkiesha's work has appeared in the literary journal [sic], the online literary and artistic expression of queer and trans* people of color forum Black Girl Dangerous, the women drummer magazine Tom Tom magazine, the LGBTQ+ magazine Curve Magazine, and the LGBTQ mental health anthology Headcase published by Oxford University Press. They also hosted and produced the podcast When We See Each Other for the now defunct entertainment media outlet Breakthrough Radio. The podcast When We See Each Other focused on BIPOC queer/trans/non-binary/gender non-conforming artists and their allies.Through the many years as an independent artist, Nikkiesha has experience in developing, strategizing and maintaining social media campaigns, and as well as hands-on familiarity working behind the scenes with many different artists and organizations, etc.In addition to their work as an artist, Nikkiesha has an extensive background in administrative work, as they held the roles of Camp Administrator for CAS/AileyCamp and Administrative Assistant for the Arts In Education & Community Programs at the renowned Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation. They have experience working with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel), Microsoft Outlook and PowerPoint.
