Tasked with improving engagement with external audiences, particularly alumni, I was responsible for creation of a social media strategy and communications strategies for various events. I also produced news articles for publication on the Faculty's website, external and internal newsletters, and on social media channels. I provided content support, largely in the form of social media management and blogging, for a number of clients in a wide range of industries, including dental, moving and storage, boutique and luxury hotels, HVAC, insurance, and more.

Responsible for all things Marketing, I supported our 5 Canadian branches in both the internal and external communications fields. Officially being a Team of One, I lead cross-functional teams as necessary to ensure Marketing strategies were understood and launched with efficiency, and were implemented and measured effectively. I reported to the COO and worked closely with the President and Managing Directors to ensure consistent branding and service delivery across the country. My priorities included managing our customer service and satisfaction ratings, measured through NPS, and the creation and launch of a Content Marketing strategy. I produced and distributed our Quarterly Newsletter; Managed Social Media using Hootsuite, wrote for and managed the website as well as measured and analysed Web and Social traffic; and handled all day-to-day activities. I worked closely with the Sales team to ensure they were supported in their role, including compiling reports on spending patterns and producing client or industry specific content. In June 2015, I successfully organised and held a Grand Opening celebration for 200 clients, consultants, and employees after moving into a new office location. Responsible for daily preparation of media report for the Minister, and in-depth media monitoring using multiple platforms throughout the day. I was also responsible for the coordination of press release postings and leading or assisting with ministerial event planning, including liaising with PCO, as required.

As a co-op student on a four month work term, I was largely responsible for a variety of writing, photography, and media monitoring. I wrote content for the intranet site, producing several pieces on a weekly basis; took photos at various events (from media events to appreciation lunches); and played a supporting role to all members of the department. I was part of a social media strategy team which involved research, strategy development, implementation and monitoring. I helped draft tweets, and monitored Twitter using Hootsuite. Having my contract extended allowed me the opportunity to take on more high-level projects. These included drafting communications plans and products for trials at major airports; researching, interviewing and writing articles for Checkpoint, a national internal magazine; and researching for, observing and transcribing focus groups regarding culture change. I worked closely with our Spokesperson to draft news releases, contacted media outlets to promote stories and arrange interviews, and attended events to distribute media package and aid in set-up and event management. I also provided assistance to the new students, answering questions and editing drafts. I participated in training sessions in Social Media, as well as Change Management.

As the sole communications/public relations personnel at the organization, I was responsible for a wide variety of tasks - everything necessary to keep the organization moving forward! This included managing the website, editing the annual report, re-designing brochures, creating a graphic logo, creating and updating slogans, writing a comprehensive communications plan which focused on social media, a press release, and more.I took part in the Annual General Meeting and tradeshows, and served a supporting role for others in the office on their various projects.

I provided internal communications support for ACOA NS. This included taking the lead on several ministerial events, including grand openings and funding announcements. This required producing briefing books which contained scenarios, backgrounders, media advisories, press releases, and speeches. I was responsible for writing the documents, as well as contacting clients and other partners to establish event details. I was also responsible for updating the intranet on a daily basis, writing feature articles, sending out internal updates, and taking photos at events.

FSE's primary PR contact, I had the opportunity to work with many people on many items and topics. I wrote several articles published in CFB Stadacona's newspaper, Trident, and several extensive pieces which were uploaded to the company's internal website. I provided support for DND's Communities in Bloom initiative (including writing and editing stories as well as photography) and I assisted in event planning. I also undertook the responsibility of planning; organizing; and executing a FSE PD Information Day and BBQ.
