Navigating through insurance processes and contracts can be a “mine field”. It is great to have someone that can help Advisers through the various stages of insurance. To ensure you’ve chosen a strong product, you need someone that has experience and understands the various processes required to ensure the best outcome for your client.I’ve been working in the Insurance industry since 1988. I started my insurance career in South Africa with a company called Liberty Life as a trainee underwriter. Working for Hollandia Re: in Johannesburg allowed me to improve my medical knowledge and helped me to improve as an Underwriter as the majority of the applications required in depth knowledge and dialogue with Medical Physicians and Chief Medical Officers. I also played a key part in developing underwriting guidelines for Discovery Health. At Discovery I was promoted to underwriting Manager. When I arrived in Brisbane in 1998 with my family, the majority of the insurance companies had a centralised model and all underwriting was done in either Sydney or Melbourne. I commuted to Sydney for 3 years working with AMP and was later appointed as National Underwriting Manager.I’ve always enjoy the interaction with advisers and the interplay between underwriting and sales. When the opportunity to get on the road came about in Brisbane, it was a natural fit. I was instrumental in establishing the QLD state office for AIG Life, later to become AIA. After 11 years with AIA and being number 1 in QLD for New Business Sales (as per NMG) I have made a decision to pursue a career with TAL. I now have the opportunity to work a new Sales and Underwriting team and will continue to service all QLD advisers. I look forward to continuing my relationship with the many advisers that I have known for the last 11 years as well as getting to know many more. With the support of the QLD team I have no doubt that TAL be will be number 1 QLD in the near future
