About Nikki Marczak

As Director of Atrocity Prevention Strategy, I lead the Centre's risk assessment and early warning workstream, which involves research, monitoring, writing, analysis and assessment of atrocity risk, development of recommendations and strategies for prevention. I lead the development of bimonthly Regional Snapshots, Country Risk Assessment Studies, and convene an Expert Advisory Panel on Atrocity Prevention, as well as managing the atrocity prevention regional snapshot lab with university interns. I am involved in the Centre's work on gender-responsive risk indicators, the Pacific Program, training, and strengthening partnerships across the region with civil society, human rights defenders, governments, and regional bodies. My background is in genocide studies with a focus on women’s experiences, and I have previously co-edited the Genocide Perspectives series and had articles published by various journals and media outlets. I have also worked with various communities including Yazidi survivors, and the Armenian community, during which time I undertook the Lemkin scholarship with the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. I am a current member of the National Council for Jewish Women Australia, the Australian Academic Alliance Against Antisemitism, and part of the Nahum Goldmann Fellowship 2024 leadership cohort.
