I have worked in the higher education sector for 12 years in a range of roles, including research, teaching, training, events, marketing, product / business development, with an increasing focus on improving teaching in HE. I am interested in how online communities of all kinds can share ideas, knowledge, support and inspiring content to build valuable connections and facilitate conversations between people, to empower them to be leaders of change in their own context. This is relevant to my professional experience and role as the Community Manager for OneHE, as well as my personal interests, e.g. mental health and well-being, disability inclusion in sport and fitness, limb difference awareness and LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion. Outside of my 'day job', I am a Les Mills BODYCOMBAT instructor, which brings together my love for music, group exercise and martial arts.

Engagement And Content Marketing ManagerAdvance He Apr 2018 - Aug 2018York, United KingdomI lead our collective storytelling efforts through content marketing and engagement activities, providing strategic direction from an academic and HE expert perspective, as well as driving and managing the successful delivery of our content plan. This requires collaborating closely with a variety of internal and external partners – employee engagement within the content marketing strategy is as vital as engagement with our communities, networks and customers. I want to create for our members a sense of belonging to something bigger (i.e. our vision and mission) in order to promote active brand advocacy, as well as to give them exciting opportunities to contribute their own content. In my current role I achieve this through comprehensive planning and delivery of high-quality content for our email, website, social media channels and digital engagement platforms. I work closely with the training, delivery and partnership teams to identify and build on internal and external synergies across products and services, in order to maximise the generation of leads, sales and engagement (shares, follows etc.). This involves contributing ideas to and aligning activity and content for the launch of new products and campaigns, with careful consideration for brand messaging, user need and customer journey, including ensuring:• Coherency of connections between our products and services.• Strategic direction and implementation.• Learning, continuous improvement and effective advice to inform decision making.• Insight through listening to the voice of our employees and customers, empowering them to tell their own story and inspire others. -
