Design leader and strategist with 20+ years of experience, consulting for startups, tech companies and design agencies in NYC or wherever projects take me.Here's the thing with design. It can be a powerful tool to make the world a better place to live, work and play in. All that jazz. Problem by problem, interface by interface, service by service. How hard can it be, right?It turns out it takes a lot of hard work. And an open mind. Over time, you need to unlearn and relearn how to make good design happen to drive the outcomes you’re looking for. But whatever label you put on the work and the process - whether it be User-Centered Design, Lean UX, Design Thinking, Product Design (or, you know, just plain old Design) - it's still pretty much the same language, and very often that same special sauce. Put smart people in the same room. Involve users at all times (no exceptions) to make sure you solve the right problems, and the problems right. Ship, measure what happens, do your research, and keep tweaking it. Rinse/repeat. And hopefully we make someone's day better in the end, and businesses successful. Hurray for us. Time for coffee.I love getting the finer details that matter right as much as I do zooming out to look at the bigger picture to know where we're going, and why. One simply can not exist without the other.I occasionally also take photos with my cameras and write a few articles here and there for publications. More often than not old cars, bikes, the owners and the stories they share.
