About Niklaus Evitt

Niklaus (Nik) Evitt is Vice President of Operations at Switch Bioworks, a startup leveraging synthetic biology to build better biofertilizers and feed the world sustainably. Nik joined Switch as a Founding Scientist in 2022 and now oversees Legal & Government Affairs, Operations, and Social Impact. Prior to Switch, Nik worked as an NIH-funded Kirschstein Research Fellow in UPenn's MD-PhD Program. At Penn, he investigated and improved next-generation CRISPR-Cas genome editing technologies using methods in synthetic biology and protein engineering. He has also held R&D roles in Hardware Technologies at Apple and Protein Analytical Chemistry at Genentech in addition to his service on multiple non-profit and civic boards. Nik has published across the fields of bioethics, bioengineering, and medicine. He completed his undergraduate work in Chemical Engineering at Stanford.
