About Nicolassa (Niko) Galvez
Chingona Coach reignites what made you feel like the badass you already are, but whose edges have been dulled over the years. My name is Nicolassa. I'm an anti-career coach for women who feel unseen and undervalued at work. I added "anti" because traditional career advice doesn't work for Chingonas - badass chicas who have big dreams and lean into being too much. I partner with my clients to help them see that the workplace structure (originating in racist and patriarchal ideals) is broken and not them. And this knowledge, combined with their inherent worth is how they feel empowered to raise their voice regardless of who is (not) listening. I have worked in the nonprofit industry for nearly twenty years. Target populations have included people without homes, families crossing the U.S./Mexico Border, employees overcoming mental illnesses, and women escaping domestic violence. I have learned from all my experience that "helping" people only continues oppression. I could never keep a job for more than two years, and that didn't change when I left the nonprofit sector. I've done everything from construction to leading a community arts space and ended up in digital marketing for seven years. I used to be excellent at following directions. Actually, I still am, but I don't like it as much. I manifested my ADHD symptoms by following directions precisely and was rewarded at work for that skill. As I grew in my confidence and wanted to color outside the lines, I was taken aback by the response of my bosses. I unleashed a creative genius that was perceived as a troublesome naysayer by leaders. I never got back to that "great employee" persona again. This journey has been full of heartbreaks, and my work now is about ensuring you know the system is broken and not you. After years of feeling tempered at work, coaching helped me rekindle my internal Chingona fire, and now I coach other women to do the same.Sign-up for a free coaching sampler here on my website https://chingona.coach/
