Obtained catch data from recreational anglers in Westport, Tokeland, and South Bend WA, to ensure accurate stock assessment of salmonids and marine groundfish. Worked as a commercial fisheries observer aboard gillnet boats and interacted professionally with the captains and crews.

Tumwater, WA

Sampled oysters all over the Puget Sound area for Washington State's shellfish safety program, monitoring for Vibrio parahaemolyticus growth. Handled logistics, fieldwork schedules, and notification of commercial oyster growers of area closures.

Benthic Ecology Lab, Hatfield Marine Science Center, Newport OR

Obtained ecological data for baseline ecological characterization of benthic fauna at Northwest Marine Renewable Energy Center's North Energy Test Site, to enable future assessments of impacts from installment of renewable wave energy moorings off the Oregon coast. Identified invertebrate taxa at sea and in the lab, and tracked the population dynamics of.

College Of Earth Ocean & Atmospheric Sciences, Corvallis OR

Worked on the implementation of a system by which commercial oyster growers could use fluorescence staining and gel filters to track the effects of ocean acidification on the development of larval oysters. Constructed and installed CO2 sensors in the mudflats of Netarts bay, to monitor ocean acidification.

North Coast Land Conservancy, Seaside OR

Stationed at the North Coast Land Conservancy, in collaboration with the Nature Conservancy, to assist with habitat restoration and monitoring. Planted thousands of trees in floodplain pastureland, to restore it to sitka spruce swamp. Assisted with ecological surveys and fieldwork in Clatsop County and throughout the state of Oregon.

Northwest Service Academy, Portland OR

Joined an 8-member crew tasked with eradicating thousands of square feet of invasive plants in the Portland Metro area. Participated in outreach, education, and training. Built several wilderness trails and conducted a 6 week GPS invasive weed survey of the Little North Santiam River.
