Appointed Lecturer of Accident Investigation at Central Queensland University (CQU). Responsible for coordinating and teaching the subject “Accident Forensics”, which forms part of an undergraduate course Bachelor of Accident Forensics as well as the postgraduate course Master of Accident Investigation. The subject exposes students to safety philosophies and foundation methods and principles. Contemporary accident forensic technologies are discussed and investigated. The role and impact of meteorology on accident causation and investigation is examined. Students are taught how to compare, contrast and assess the forensic investigation methods for establishing accident causation factors. Involved in scientific and factual analysis of over 400 collision and workplace incident events, including the review of the relevant laws and reconstruction, analysis and synthesis of: • Workplace incidents • Safe systems of work• Risk identification, assessment and risk control strategies • Traffic management plans • Machine guarding incidents • Slips, Trips, Stumbles and Falls • Manual handling incidents • Light and heavy vehicle collisions • Bicycle and pedestrian collisions Worked in a team in the development of a Traffic Management Plan for a major mining company mining site in the Northern Territory. This included inspections of the mining site, observing and understanding the traffic flow within and around the mine, understanding the operations of the mine, using engineering and problem solving skills to create a Traffic Management Plant that minimises risks of collisions and incidents.Identified and developed numerous proactive Risk Identifications/Assessments/Control measures and JSAs using existing OH&S Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Best Practice, Australian Standards and relevant research. Delivering these services in clear and concise professional reports and flow chart diagrams, MORT and HFACS analysis diagrams, etc.Organised and conducted a series of crash tests at the 2012 National Australian Insurance Law Association Conference in Hobart. Involved in the organisation, planning and execution of the crash tests of 5 vehicles. Responsible for creating and implementing risk identification, assessment and risk controls for the event and ensuring the safety of all employees and over 50 attendees.Conducted over 300 site and vehicle inspections and surveys, mapping the information in 3D and producing and presenting the results as clear and concise drawings using Bentley Microstation CAD software.Actively participates in the professional development of undergraduate students from various engineering fields.
