I'm a multifaceted problem solver with experience in forming, managing, and leading high performance teams in a number of tech and service-oriented companies in Myanmar. I currently co-manage a fashion startup with my wife and serves as an advisor for one of the fastest growing international schools in Yangon and Myanmar's largest express delivery company.When it comes to learning about the world and the reality, there are basically two types of people. Those who learn the procedures through experience and narrow specializations make up the majority. Many Asian parents preach this form of learning, where repetition and perseverance are the keys to success. This first type of people are the true manifestation of 10,000-hour practice in a focused area of study. The second type of people tend to study the governing principles behind any chosen field, be it calculus, computer science, architecture, biology, or business management. They are more attracted to expand their range of understanding over abstract laws that determine how procedures should work out for any given field. They also don't usually limit themselves to a particular narrow area of study.As a lifelong learner of liberal arts, I am the quintessential second-type person. I work at the cross-section of tech and human, where my omnivorous brain can change gears repeatedly to collaborate, manage, and lead various teams to effectively deliver results and make things happen. I see patterns in chaos, listen to things that were left unsaid, and pay attention to what people truly want. I understand that the devil is not just in the detail but also in varying degrees of detail. I believe there is always a better way to do everything, from washing dishes in the kitchen to managing a country's economy. I have learned to detach my ego from my ideas long ago, which allows me to always critique my own and others idea fairly objectively. Of all the things that people despise, I think doubt is the most misunderstood. Through doubt, I am able to question everything I think I know and everything that people think they know. Innovation and new ideas blossom when old knowledge is viewed under the new light from completely different angles. That's why I always tell my students to not just think outside the box but also without the box. Find a basket or a bucket if needed.
