It might sound strange, but N. Nyman Ltd was originally founded to run a recording studio. After closing down the studio, the company has been a vehicle for my client work for the past 25+ years.Clients usually come to me when they need help managing projects with a focus on estimation and forecasting, creating clarity on project or team outcomes, and getting teams to work well together, especially remotely. Most projects are digital development projects with teams consisting of developers, designers, and people from the business.In the past I've worked on a number of other things through my company:- My own product development- Digital concept development with strong focus on UX/CX and business results- UX design and front-end development- Advising startups on maintaining focus and using lean and agile methodologies- Complex Flash app development, with 2 full-time employees at the best times- Website projects on top of Wordpress, developing custom themes and plugins- Screen designs (I have a secret crush with Figma components)- Print designs (I still know my way around CMYK plates)- Music production for artists and advertisements

Responsible for the smooth operation of the Immersal business in actual, virtual and especially augmented reality. In Immersal I've built up experience in launching a high-risk startup, in team and process management, and in raising private and public funding.Immersal was acquired by Hexagon in 2021.

Design, front-end development, and running operations for the travel search company co-founded with Sami Salmenkivi and Mika Räihä.The company has given me valuable first-hand lessons about the startup life, running business on limited resources, and the importance of maintaining momentum within the company and with the partners.

Working as a member of Blaut Network, I have managed projects and helped in digital strategy work for clients.The Blaut projects have given me the opportunity to try out various project management methodologies and tools, and find repeatable processes to successfully combine high quality design work with strict agile development sprints.

During the last half of my stay with Razorfish I worked as a Flash developer, Actionscripting object oriented applications using the back-then state of the art prototyping and functions-as-classes approach... Mainly customizable navigation elements and calendars.For me this was a period of high intensity learning of core programming concepts like OOP. I participated in an online community pioneering prototype-based OOP in ActionScript 1.0.

I worked in the Strategy group at the Razorfish Helsinki office brainstorming the future of mobile products, trying to find revenue models for a few in-the-bubble portals, and working on user experience concepts, or 'Interactivity Branding' as I called it back then.Working as a strategist was first and foremost a lesson on human behaviour. The most glaring realization was to see how strongly people base decisions on emotions rather than numbers. Even people handling 7+ figure budgets. I also learned an MBA doesn't automatically mean someone knows how to use Excel. And when times are tough, there's a suprising percentage of people who are willing to bend facts to their advantage.

In this art director / html monkey position I worked on a multitude of web sites from simple web design for a tiny financing company to managing the online graphic identity of the largest telecom operator in Finland.I learned everything that could be learned about making websites with the highest end technologies available back then, Netscape 1.2 and HTML2. I worked hard, learned a lot about branding and marketing, ingrained Photoshop shortcuts to my muscle memory, learned about cutting edge technologies like includes for building massive (that's 2000 pages in 1996!) websites, and generally got to know the world of agency work.

Produced platinum selling pop music for Finnish artists. Learned the good and the bad of the pre-internet era music industry.

Co-produced and engineered platinum selling music and remixes for Finnish artists. At SoundArt I also got some limited experience in making radio ads.

Edited the weekly Official Coca-Cola Eurochart Top 100 radio program for Russia and eventually for Finland as well.First I learned to edit audio on analog tape. Impossible to think that just ~20 years ago I used a white pencil and plastic tape to mark a cut point, and attach the cut ends back together. I then poured all my savings into the very first PowerPC Mac and Deck, the very first software capable of running 4 tracks of CD-resolution audio on a home computer. With Deck I learned to edit multitrack audio.

Arranged the music for a musical play and performed in the play, mixing live playing and pre-sequenced music. A high intensity crash course on the potential and challenges of playing live with computers.

For a few months I joined forces with Nicklas Renqvist to score the music for the game Super Stardust. Not sure what I learned, but it was a great experience working with a team 200% dedicated to achieving success.
