I served as a Senior Tax Manager with Pesta, Finnie & Associates, LLP working directly with clients to provide tax consulting and compliance services. My role included coordinating all phases of client engagement and preparing internal memoranda, written correspondence, and documents for submission to the IRS and Treasury Department. I managed a staff of 10 to 12 professionals on multiple compliance and research projects.

As Tax Manager I provided overall leadership, supervision, and training for a group of staff professionals. I prepared and reviewed complex individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns as well as worked directly with clients to help reach their individual goals. I also prepared research for tax issues and ensured annual earnings, expenditures, and investments were reported with accuracy and completeness. Finally, my position included managing and developing staffing teams to provide professional development and performance evaluation as well as contributing to the company’s business development efforts.

My role as Tax Senior with Pesta, Finnie & Associates, LLP included preparing complex federal and state tax returns for LLCs, S-corporations, trusts, partnerships, and individuals. I conducted research and planning for complex tax issues, including analysis of new tax laws and proposed legislation. I also reviewed financial statements and resolved IRS and state government tax notices for clients. Additionally, I provided backup IT support as needed and served as the firm’s administrator for tax preparation using the software, Go System RS.

As a Tax Consultant with Ernst & Young, I provided consulting services and technical tax assistance ensuring tax processes and systems were in place prior to spinoff for a Fortune 200 client. I supported development for the customer’s MS Excel FIN 48 reporting tool; assisted with design of the FIN 48 roll forward process; and provided training and support to clients for the FIN 48 reporting tool. I also performed complex data scrubbing tasks and federal tax return preparation (1120 and 1040).
