As Head of IOGPT (Institute of Oil & Gas Production Technology) providing support to the entire gamut of oil and gas production & processing aspects which includes conceptual field development schemes, identification of critical business activities & suitable measures for rectification for various Field Development & Production Processes for offshore/ onshore fields and installations, flow assurance, well completion design, well stimulation design, water & gas shut off, sand control , artificial lift selection and design, well performance analysis, oil/ gas /water processing – upstream & midstream, pipe line related, value added products, corrosion & scaling issues, technical assistance for vendor selection and field implementation to ONGC , Joint Ventures, ONGC Videsh Limited and other E&P companies. Apart from these, training is also imparted on various aspects of Production engineering, equipped with two training simulators.Under my guidance & leadership the Institute has been adjudged as the best R&D Institute of ONGC consecutively for two financial years : 2012–13 & 2013–14.

Ensured HSE system implementation and monitoring for the offshore facilities, proper coordination with the regulatory bodies. Close association with the development of the Oil Spill Contingency plan and National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan.

Monitoring/ maintaining health of offshore & bay pipeline network of about 6000 km transporting sour/sweet well fluid, lift gas, injection water, treated oil & gas with diameter ranging from 6 inches to 42 inches and ensure safe optimal functioning. Pigging/ Intelligent pigging and various surveys for health monitoring. Complying statutory & regulatory requirements.

Formulated strategies and prepared feasibility reports for development of offshore small and marginal fields including highly sour gas fields. Actions initiated for development of the identified marginal fields.

Surface Manager of Assam Asset (onshore), comprising of 14 oil & gas fields, some of them as old as 60+ years & located in highly sensitive North-Eastern part of India spreading over 600 square Km area. Production includes heavy crude & crude high in wax, asphaltene & resin with more than 85% wells on artificial lift. Monitored and implemented measures for production, processing & treatment of oil, gas & effluent, marketing, reliability based maintenance of equipment. Quality Safety Environment & Occupational Health Management of 50 certified installations comprising GGSs, CTFs, wellhead installations, Gas Compressor Plants, ETPs, Water Injection Plants & Gas Turbine driven Captive Power Plants. Ensured implementation of Corporate HSE policies, compliance of DGMS; Pollution Control Board, OISD & other statutory requirements.

Responsible for Feasibility & Techno-economic viability analysis, Resource generation, Contract Management, Maintenance of Static Equipment, Construction & modification for de-bottlenecking of process problems, repair & renewal of facilities to meet the operational challenges. Planning, scheduling & execution of planned & turn-around shutdown, implementation of shut down activities & plant normalization. Formulated upgraded maintenance painting specifications for offshore structures (short life & long life) to mitigate corrosion. As Location Manager ensured trouble-free operation and turned around the performance of the Water Injection Platform with injection capacity of 320,000 BWPD with marked improvement in quality & quantity of water injection by necessary troubleshooting & remedial actions. Implemented Corporate HSE policy. Identified small & marginal fields (yet to be developed), formulated strategies for development, prepared development plan/ feasibility reports including cluster development. Various types of processing facilities, production systems, mooring systems & low cost platforms were evaluated for viability & implementability.Co-authored manual “Graduates Guide to Offshore Operations” for new entrants.

As Resident Engineer was responsible for operating World’s one of the largest sour gas processing complex capable of handling 50+ MMSCMD of sour gas (designed for 1200 ppm H2S) & 12000+ cu m of associated condensate.

Responsible for gas marketing and long-term & short-term planning for Oil & Gas production, Gas utilization, Water Injection, Work-over, Well maintenance, Well stimulation, Installation & servicing of artificial lifts, Water shutoff, Zone transfer etc. Performance review of reservoirs- Analysis of sand-wise & block-wise review of well performance & review of various reservoirs from production & pressure maintenance point of view. Comprehensive development plan for various fields.

As Head of Process Engineering group, carried out Pipeline network optimization, prepared Feasibility Report of Demulsification / Desalting plant, adequacy checks of ETPs, Process optimization – design review of static equipment, processing facilities, sour crude handling facility, adequacy checks of processing equipment, conversion of gas to middle distillates etc. A four day course formulated & conducted as Course Director to production executives on “Offshore Production Technology” covering all aspects related to offshore oil field production operations, thrice, during 1990 & 1991.

As Control Room Shift In Charge of the first & second major offshore complexes (each with design capacity of 180000 BOPD, 4.4 MMSCMD) was responsible for Wellhead Platform Operations, Pre-commissioning/ commissioning of the self-contained offshore process complexes, Process Control through safe working practices, Supervision of Hot Jobs & Cold Jobs through Permit to Work (PTW) system, Maintenance of Process Platform static equipment, Coordination with OIM & Central Control Room.Supervised construction activities, pre-commissioning/ commissioning of process platform (100,000 BOPD & 2.5 MMSCMD capacity) located in the second largest field in Western Offshore. Commenced production and worked as OIMAlso worked as OIM of Water Injection Platform with injection capacity of 320,000 BWPD.

Apart from undergoing training for one year as Graduate Trainee, carried out field development studies at KDMIPE, Dehradun and R&D on Chemical EOR techniques including laboratory studies at Institute of Reservoir Studies, Ahmedabad.
