He completed his LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement and Arbitration from Leiden Law School in the Netherlands and is additionally qualified as an Investment Treaty Arbitration specialist. Additionally, he also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel and Labour Management from one of the leading business schools in India, namely Xavier Institute of Social Service by virtue of which, he is also an experienced HR Professional having had a 5-year successful track record in multinationals and handling labour and employment issues, along with extensive hands-on exposure to policy drafting and implementation.He has experience handling multiple institutional as well as individual cases in diverse branches of law such as corporate law, consumer, civil, criminal law, environmental and constitutional law. He has also handled multiple arbitration matters including setting aside proceedings of both international as well as domestic arbitral awards as contemplated within the framework of the Indian Arbitration & Conciliation Act of 1996. He regularly advises clients on commercial contracts ranging from formation to insolvency, pre-dispute settlement strategies as well as on the formation of trusts, securing business licenses from Governments, agreements relating to seed funding, employment for start-ups among other matters.Nilanjan has represented and holds a clientèle comprising of Fortune India 500 companies as well as corporations including those under the Government of India. Over the course of his practice, he has had the honour of being appointed Special Officer by the Calcutta High Court (Court of Appeal) on multiple occasions, for purposes ranging from conducting seizure of premises to taking evidence upon administering oath by virtue of the Court having conferred upon him the powers of a territorial court of first instance under India’s Civil Procedure Code of 1908. Along with his legal practice, he also pursues being a part-time academic as a hobby and visits a few prominent Indian universities and colleges lecturing students.
