Child Education Development is a Christian Non Profit Organization working close with Governmental Ministries and Institutions with the help of well-wishers and friends locally and internationally for the betterment of the less-privileged and vulnerable children and families in Sri Lanka.CED works mainly in the fields of education both in formal & non-formal providing help & support in formal education providing teachers and resources in teaching English and Information Technology, conducting after-school additional support in Maths, native languages, English language and Information Technology where there are no resources available like in the city schools & colleges. In the area of non-formal education CED support in building to provide adequate space in school class rooms, training teachers, giving scholarships for higher education, establishing libraries and play centers in schools, conducting literacy and post literacy classes. Further, CED conducts awareness programs for the uneducated families of the children in our educational support & care. Conducting awareness programs & seminars on child sexual abuse which is a major crisis in the North Central Province. Also conducting awareness programs and counseling sessions for depressed families and parents. The rate of committing suicide in the this area is on top of the list in Sri Lanka. Due to poverty, un-education, not knowing how to handle stress the innocent parents commit suicide and the under aged children become vulnerable and destitute. Their future goes blank and deleted over a night. CED has recognized these situations and needs of the community in this area. So, one of the main focus has been to conduct awareness programs and counseling for the parents and adults has been very effective. Already we have been recognized as effective, efficient and result oriented by the community which is a golden encouragement for CED to be more energetic and march forward to carry out it’s vision & mission.

Board Member/ Director/ Chief Financial Officer - Child Empowerment International/Asiana Education Development -INGO (from March 1999 till August 2010)Asiana Education Development (AED) is an American NGO (IRS 501 – c – 3) based in Scots Valley California / Seattle, Washington, and approved by the Sri Lankan government, (Registration #L78804) which empowers children in education. Main responsibilities working as a Board Member/ Director/ Chief Financial OfficerI was responsible for managing and supervising the local activities as well the entire sponsorship of the organization. I was in charge of the educational projects and programs in the country, both at the national and local level. I served as a Board Member cum Director cum Chief financial Officer the organization in the country. I ensured that all operations of the organization such as the staff, finances and other resources work were conducted efficiently and effectively. I worked in collaboration with the headquarters in Scotts Valley, California, major donor agencies in the US, other overseas and local board of directors and the government of Sri Lanka as well as with the government of the US mainly with IR department and with US CPA in amalgamation of audited accounts of local and US finances. Attending meetings in the US and submitting Annual Progress reports and financial reports to the members of the Board.

Main Responsibilities working as a Finance & Accounts Officer • Attended to face-to-face and telephone enquiries regarding financial matters and liaised with clients, service providers using good negotiations skills to solve the issues • Received invoices, entered accounts payable and receivable using MYOB accounting package system • Kept books and Prepared Financial statements (trial balances, profit & loss accounts and balance sheets) and cash-flow statements for the management for decision making purposes• Reconciled bank statements against cash book and prepared bank reconciliation reports• Checked and corrected calculations of time sheets for payroll • Issued cheques and maintained bank operations activities. • Prepared various financial reports such as financial statements, budgets, schedules for church Treasurer and Finance Committee• Handled petty cash, making petty cash reports for reimbursement and maintained petty cash records• Maintained finance records and filing system with easy access to the document sources
