Nila is an award-winning industrial designer, leader and educator, with diverse experience spanning industries, from manufactured consumer goods, to large-scale environmental and spatial design, art installations, experience design, design for a circular economy and material development. Nila’s primary goal is to design sustainable and regenerative solutions that not only fulfill utilitarian needs but also create delightful experiences that connect with users on an emotional level to leave a lasting positive impactHer extensive experience as a consultancy designer, In-house design leader and an independent practitioner has exposed her to working with a diverse range of clients including entrepreneurs, startups, multinational firms, cultural and educational institutions. She recently founded RK-Collective, a group of passionate practitioners responding to a world increasingly confronted with environmental, societal and ethical challenges, focusing on projects that are ‘deliberately’ innovative and balance culture, ecology and commercial needs.To further pursue her passion for sharing industry knowledge and nurturing future designers and innovators, Nila also works at UNSW Art & Design as an academic in both postgraduate and undergraduate degrees, focusing on Sustainable Design, Design Professional Practice and integrated design studios. Her involvement as the Deputy-Chair of the DIA NSW council further amplifies her commitment to present the voice of design within an Australia-wide multidisciplinary design community. Additionally, recognizing the need for a more cohesive industrial design community in Sydney, she co-founded Industrial Designers Xchange Sydney (IDX-SYD), facilitating socializing, networking, and knowledge exchange opportunities for industrial designers in Sydney and beyond.
