I am the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Policy and Project Development Officer at the University of Limerick. In June 2024, I was appointed by the Minister of State for Community Development, Integration, and Charities, Joe O’Brien, to serve on the Advisory Committee, monitoring the implementation of the National Action Plan Against Racism (NAPAR), where I work closely with the Special Rapporteur for race equality in Ireland at national level.Previously, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Galway, where I contributed to the Respect Project and the Gender Pay Gap Project under the Office of the Vice President for EDI. I hold a Ph.D. in International Human Rights Law from the Irish Centre for Human Rights, School of Law, University of Galway, as well as an LLM in International Law. My expertise centers on the right to peace as foundational for fostering equitable, peaceful, and inclusive societies.In my capacity as a legal consultant with the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) Network, I have contributed to research on key issues such as child protection, civic space for civil society, xenophobia, and anti-Muslim hatred in Ireland. I have also had the privilege of working alongside various civil society organizations, where I developed policy papers, reports, and resources on topics like asylum seekers' rights, the rights of the Traveller Community, integration for resettled Syrian refugees, the rights of the Deaf Community, access to justice for racialised groups, and addressing racism in Ireland. My research has also extended to the analysis of minority rights in Iran.I was also a lecturer in 'Human Rights Law for Advocates and Activists' and supervised postgraduate dissertations at the Huston School of Film & Digital Media, University of Galway. Additionally, I have been delivering training workshops on 'Race and Intersectional Equality Law' for HR professionals and higher education staff, supporting the development of EDI understanding in various professional settings since 2021.
